Elementary rezoning for 2022-2023 proposed, provide your input

Elementary rezoning for 2022-2023 proposed, provide your input

During their regular meeting on Monday, February 14, the Northwest ISD Board of Trustees reviewed proposed attendance boundary changes for 2022-2023 that would affect three schools.

Because of booming growth in the Haslet Elementary School zone, the campus requires immediate relief. The school’s new campus opened this school year with an increased capacity over its previous campus. Despite more room for students, however, booming growth in the community has already pushed the school beyond its 850-student capacity.

To alleviate Haslet, Curtis and Peterson elementary schools would contribute to boundary changes. Only these three campuses would see changes to their attendance zones in the proposal. These changes would occur in two ways:

  • The Bridgeview community would be rezoned from Haslet Elementary School to Curtis Elementary School.
  • Two apartment complexes, Courtland Presidio East and Alleia at Presidio, would be rezoned from Curtis Elementary School to Peterson Elementary School.

Northwest ISD welcomes families of Curtis, Haslet and Peterson to provide their feedback on the changes in one or more of the following ways:

  • By attending a rezoning meeting at Haslet Elementary School from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 16.
  • By attending a rezoning meeting at Curtis Elementary School from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, February 17.
  • By attending a Zoom meeting from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 22, with a link to be emailed out next week before the meeting.
  • By emailing feedback to onthegrow@nisdtx.org.

The Northwest ISD Board of Trustees are scheduled to vote on the final boundary changes at their regular meeting on Monday, February 28.
